There are numerous songs produced and still on going – countless to say and in general all of us cannot live without a melody in our lives. Precious songs linger for all the years and other years to come and still the music of yesteryears are alive. They never die. They always remain forever because they were made from the soul and their spirit hovers around us for always.
The song, “What A wonderful world” was popularized by Louis Armstrong and did it with his unique style unmatched and revived by almost the great singers of all time. It tells that the world is a beautiful place to live in – everything nature provides is a real delight and reserved for all even the babies born. Artists perform this song on their own and I like the version of Eva Cassidy. This was the last song she recorded before she died and if you’ve listened to her version it’s full of angst. As if it’s a premonition that she’ll be leaving this wonderful world.
“Imagine” is a song dedicated to all the people of the world to value peace not war. That all of us are brothers and sisters and the message speaks strongly that if there is peace, the world will be as one. This is an original song by John Lennon.
Who will forget the song, “An AffairTo Remember?” The old classics from the famous movie of the same title that was revived for the third time. The original was made during the thirties and the third revival was titled Love Affair. This song never dies and a very apt music for a wedding. The melody and lyrics are so different from other love songs. Its message is eternal. It has magic when you listen to this music. It has a certain feel indefinable.
Michael Jackson’s favorite song, “Smile” is a very standard song that has a universal message. What’s the use of crying. You’ll see the sun comes shining through if you just smile. I love this song, too. And this is the first song I’ve learned when I was in college. Try listening to the soundtrack of this song taken from the movie “Modern Times” starred by Charlie Chaplin in 1936 being his last film.
“La Vie En Rose.” This is an original from Edith Piaf who sings very differently but full of emotions. She has numerous French songs but this song stands out that distinguishes her popularity then. Whenever I sing this song, I do the French version.
Another song that is inspirational in nature and popularized by Josh Groban and turned out to be a big hit especially for weddings and approved to be sung for the communion is “You Raise Me Up.” Nobody can give full justice to song except Josh.
And finally, the most beautiful broadway song ever, “Over The Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz is an original by Judy Garland. It speaks of hope and there is something beyond only if you wish upon it. That it is not impossible to reach the stars. If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why can’t I.
These are my medley version of the seven songs mentioned above. May I sing them for you.
